SEAS, international partners develop accelerated "4+1" master's programs

November 23, 2015

As part of its commitment to build an internationally diverse student body, SEAS has partnered with higher education institutions in three countries to develop accelerated master's programs, also known as "4+1" programs (four years of bachelor's coursework + one year of master's coursework), to undergraduate students seeking to complete a master's degree in an engineering or computer science field at GW:

  • North South University (Dhaka, Bangladesh)
  • University of Ilorin (Ilorin, Nigeria)
  • Vellore Institute of Technology (Vellore, India)

Students from these institutions who successfully complete their bachelor's degrees and wish to obtain a master's degree at SEAS may apply a certain number of credit hours from their undergraduate coursework toward their master's degree, enabling them to complete their master's in one calendar year instead of the traditional four academic semesters or two years.
